WHAT’S IN A NAME?

Have you ever wondered what goes into naming a specific car model? Is it the result of a creative strategy, market research, and cultural considerations, or does it reflect a deeper connection to the vehicle’s design, features, and brand identity? We asked the team at Jetour South Africa about how the brand came to select the names of some of their models.

The confidence and style behind the Jetour Dashing

Designed to redefine the modern driving experience, the Jetour Dashing was launched in South Africa in September 2024, and boasts dynamic, fluid lines and an innovative design. Its dynamic front and bold split-type LED headlights, combined with a sleek coupe-like profile and muscular contours, create a seamless fusion of power and elegance. The Jetour Dashing also incorporates groundbreaking technology and mechanical aesthetics, catering to the needs of a new generation of consumers who seek innovation, advanced technology, and distinctive experiences.

The name “Dashing” was chosen for its strong connection to both the Chinese and English interpretations of the word. In Chinese, “Dasheng” conveys the qualities of confidence, popularity, and charm, while in English, “Dashing” evokes a sense of stylishness and attractiveness. These meanings perfectly align with this model’s key attributes of youth, technology, and fashion. With its avant-garde design and cutting-edge technology, the Jetour Dashing is built to be driven in a bold, confident manner, making “Dashing” a fitting name that reflects both the car’s dynamic character and the vibrant lifestyle it aims to inspire. This 5-seater SUV is priced very competitively starting with the Momentum model at R439 900 and the Deluxe model at R469 900.

The enhanced features and luxury in the bigger Jetour X70 Plus

The Jetour X70 Plus, another of the Jetour vehicles currently available in South Africa, was named to emphasize its positioning within the brand’s lineup and highlight its features. The “X” in the name indicates the model’s SUV classification, representing adventure and versatility, while the “70” reflects the vehicle’s size and its place within Jetour’s product range.

The X70 Plus is a larger, more premium offering compared to smaller models, such as the X50 and X60 which are more compact SUV models available in some international markets.

“Plus” signifies the enhanced features, luxury, and technology that the X70 Plus offers, with this model targeting customers who are looking for space, comfort, and a vehicle with dynamic, modern appeal.

The Jetour X70 Plus showcases a bold exterior with a prominent grille, complemented by sleek, elongated LED headlights. Inside, the cabin exudes modern elegance, highlighted by ambient lighting and meticulously crafted red stitching. With its groundbreaking safety innovations, the X70 Plus makes every journey both thrilling and effortless, offering a thoughtful blend of active and passive safety features and the latest technology for peace of mind on the road. The X70 Plus is the ultimate in travel and style, designed for families and adventurers alike, and is priced at R454 900 for the Momentum and R484 900 for the Deluxe model.

Jetour T Series: Designed To a T for the adventurous driver

The naming of the Jetour T series follows a strategic approach based on product sequence and the model’s conceptual ties. The “T” was chosen for its association with travel-related words such as Travel, Tour, Trip, and Trek, highlighting the vehicle’s adventurous spirit. Jetour chose to establish a consistent naming structure with potential for future expansions by naming the first model in the T-series lineup the T1, while the slightly bigger compact crossover SUV was introduced later as the Jetour T2.

The vehicles within the Jetour T-series are designed for both urban driving and outdoor exploration and feature a blend of modern aesthetics with practical features.
